About the Viewer

The viewer displays document images (including annotations) in the medical record. These images provide information about documents associated with encounters and are an integral part of deficiency completion.

The viewer can exist in three modes in HPF Web-based modules: inquiry mode from the Search Results window or clicking on the patient name or encounter number link on the deficiency worklist, completion mode for deficiency processing, and assignments mode from the Assignment Worklist. Various viewer options are available for these modes. For more information, see About Viewer Modes.

The viewer window includes a patient information bar at the top of the screen. This information bar contains: patient name, MRN, DOB, encounter number, facility abbreviation, admit date/time, discharge date/time, document type, deficiency type, physician assigned the deficiency, and the reason for the deficiency. If you are viewing a global document, the information bar does not display Encounter, Admitted, or Discharged data.

When you modify the way the viewer is displayed, the viewer 'remembers' your selections. Some of the settings are menu options, others are physical actions you perform on the viewer window. For example, you can resize the viewer or reposition the toolbars. For a list of the viewer options that are saved across sessions based on your last selection, see Last Saved View.

The HPF Web windows, like HPF Workstation, will close automatically after a period of time elapses with no user activity (mouse movement or keyboard actions). See Auto Logoff.

Tip: Some hardware may support using dual monitors (with one monitor displaying the module and the second monitor displaying the viewer). If you have set up your viewer to be displayed on a second monitor, the system remembers your settings when you close the viewer. If you next log in to the application on a single monitor, the viewer will be minimized and appear not to be working. Locate the viewer in the application task bar on the bottom of the screen. To restore the viewer, right click and select Maximize. When you close the viewer, the new position is saved.

Note: We recommend that the color display for your monitor be set to at least 24-bit True Color for optimal viewing of document images in completion functions.
