To View Charts When Processing Deficiencies

During deficiency processing you can view all the documents in the encounter associated with the active deficiency. You can access the chart from the deficiency worklist or from the viewer while processing deficiencies. The system allows you to open one viewer of each type for a maximum of three viewers: Medical Record Viewer, Encounter Viewer, and Deficiency Viewer.

You may have to wait a moment for the browser to load images.

To view the chart from the Deficiency Worklist

To view the chart from the worklist, perform the following steps:

  1. From one of the Deficiency Worklist functions (Signatures, Missing Text, Dictation), select a deficiency.
  2. Click the Encounter link for that deficiency in the worklist grid.
  3. The system displays the first page of the first document for the encounter associated with the deficiency in the Encounter Viewer. Use the navigational arrows to page through the documents.

  4. Use the Exit Viewer button to exit the viewer. The system also closes this viewer automatically when you access the Deficiency Viewer or complete, skip, or decline the deficiency.

To view the chart from the Deficiency Viewer.

You can access the chart when viewing a document image during completion processing. Perform the following steps:

  1. From one of the Deficiency Worklist functions (Signatures, Dictation, or Missing Text), select a deficiency.
  2. Click Process to access the document image associated with the deficiency.
  3. Click the Encounter Viewer button on the viewer toolbar, or click the Documents tab on the Content panel.
  4. The system displays the first page of the first document for the encounter associated with the deficiency in the viewer. Use the navigational arrows to page through the documents.

To view two charts at the same time

You can compare the documents for the same patient simultaneously in different instances of the Encounter Viewer and Medical Record Viewer. (You cannot compare documents for two different patients.) Do the following:

  1. From one of the Deficiency Worklist functions (Signatures, Missing Text, Dictation), select a deficiency.
  2. Click the Encounter link for that deficiency in the worklist grid.
  3. The system displays the first page of the first document for the encounter associated with the deficiency in the viewer. Use the navigational arrows to page through the documents.

  4. Click the patient name link to access the Medical Record Viewer. Select the encounter and document you need to view.
  5. Position and size the two viewers so that you can view both images on the screen. (If the viewer is maximized, click this button to reduce the size.) Use the navigational arrows to page through the documents.
  6. After comparing the charts, use the Exit Viewer buttons to exit the Encounter and Medical Record viewers. The system also closes the viewer automatically when you access the Deficiency Viewer or complete, skip, or decline the deficiency.
